He Zhan Hao
A native of Zhuji in Zhejiang, He Zhan Hao
was born in 1933. He played in the orchestra of the Zhejiang Shaoxing
Opera Troupe, later entering the Shanghai Conservatory of Music as a violin
student. Together with several classmates, he formed a violin experimental
group. The Butterfly Lovers emerged as a creative product of the group’s
musical experiments. After graduation, he transferred to the Composition
Department to study under Ding Shan De. His other major works include
the string quartet Martyr’s Diary, as well as the symphonic poem
Longhua Pagoda.
